Simple Ways To Cure Toenail Fungus

feet
Toe nail fungus are nails that are infected with infections, they usually appear thicker than normal, are badly-shaped and can break easily. It is usually caused by dermatophyte fungus, yeast and molds. The fungi can cause problems if the nails are often exposed to warm and moist conditions.

Nails with fungus mostly appear in yellowish color, sometimes a white dot shows up on the nail and then it gets bigger. When fungus builds up around the nail, it can break out in-between and thereby making it look damn ugly. The fungus can also spread to the skin around the nail.
Here are few procedures that can help cure the toenail fungus;
Apply Baking Soda
Baking soda can be use to cure toenail fungus and it helps neutralize foot odor. Add one and half cup of baking soda, one cup of hydrogen peroxide and one-half cup of epsom salt to four cups of hot water. Mix the ingredients thoroughly, and then add one cup of white vinegar to it. Soak the affected toenail in the solution for about 10 minutes. Wash with clean warm water and dry the foot thoroughly afterwards. Repeat the process twice daily for several weeks in order to achieve good result.

White Vinegar
White vinegar help fight the infection and helps restore the skin’s PH. Mix one part of white vinegar with two cups of warm water. Soak the affected toenail in the solution for ten to fifteen minutes. Rinse it off and dry the affected area thoroughly. Repeat twice daily until the fungus is gone. If your skin becomes irritated, add more water to the solution and repeat the same process randomly.

Orange Oil
Orange oil also has anti-fungal properties, and can be used to treat infected toenails. Orange oil can cause allergic reactions and can have side effects, so it is important to test some orange oil on a small spot of skin before applying on the affected part. Use a dropper to apply pure orange oil between your toes and on and under your toenails. If you have sensitive skin then dilute the essential oil with an equal amount of carrier oil, such as grape seed oil. Leave it on for at least 30 minutes. Repeat two or three times daily until you see improvement.

Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil is a natural disinfectant, possessing fungicidal and anti-bacterial properties that make it effective in treating toenail fungus. Orange oil can be added to the mixture as well. Always remember to dilute the essential oil before applying to the toenail. One teaspoon of tea tree oil one and half teaspoon of orange oil (optional) and half teaspoon of grape seed or olive oil. Soak a cotton board in the mixture and apply to the affected nail pressing it on gently but firmly so the liquid will come out. Let this dry naturally, Alternatively, you can pour four cups of tea tree oil in enough water to soak your feet in, and do that for about fifteen or twenty minutes. Both treatments should be done in the morning and evening.

Always Wash With Clean Water
Use soap and water to wash your feet and dry well with neat towels, including between the toes everyday. Trim your toenails straight across to keep them shorter than the end of your toe. Make sure the tools; blade, nail-cutter or scissors you are using are clean, too. Wash clippers and files with soap and water, then wipe with rubbing alcohol. Do not cover up the affected nails with polish, Your nail-bed needs fresh air and needs to breath properly, the nail polish won’t keep the fungus from going away.

Footwears
Wear shoes that fits well; not too tight, be smart about your footwear, choose socks that wick away moisture and change them regularly. They should be made of something that air can easily flow through it, like canvas or leather. Wear shower or rubber shoes during rainy seasons and around swimming pools.

Men are more likely to get toe fungus than women. The older you are, the higher your chances of getting it. People who have diabetes, athlete’s foot, a weak immune system, those who smoke, or whose family members have it are also at a higher risk. If you spend a lot of time in the water or you’ve injured your toenail without proper treatment, you are likely to contact fungus so try as much to avoid putting your feet inside dirty water.
